Did you know?

Skyline Chili Goes Green for St. Patrick’s Day 🍀

Source: DDN

Every March, something unusual and oddly iconic happens across Ohio. The chili stays the same, the cheese still piles high, but the noodles? They turn bright green.

Skyline Chili is once again celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with its fan-favorite “Green Way,” a limited-time twist on its classic dish. Instead of traditional spaghetti, customers get shamrock-colored noodles topped with Skyline’s signature chili and a mountain of shredded cheddar.

It’s not a new idea t’s a tradition. For more than a decade, Skyline has rolled out this festive version each March, turning a regional staple into a social media moment and a must try experience for fans.

And here’s the catch: it’s only available for a short time, typically just on St. Patrick’s Day. That limited window is part of the magic. Families, friends, and longtime Skyline loyalists show up not just for the food but for the fun of it.

Hidden Gems

Prime and Wagyu with Bone Marrow and Japanese Style Crab Cakes: SOB at Liberty Center 🥩

S.O.B. Steakhouse at 7630 Gibson St., Ste 110 inside Liberty Center’s Shindig Park doesn’t whisper steakhouse it sings. Murals and chandeliers frame a soundtrack built for celebrating, from Agave & Rye founder Yavonne Sarber and Epic Brands.

The menu matches the swagger: USDA Prime and Wagyu steaks, Japanese style crab cakes, roasted bone marrow, plus cocktails that arrive ready for a camera flash. A big patio spills into the park when the weather cooperates. It’s high-end without the hush more night-out energy than white tablecloth ritual.

The Original Flying Pizza — where “the slice” took off downtown 🍕

Dough still takes flight at The Original Flying Pizza, the downtown counter that taught Dayton “the slice.” New York transplant John Graci opened the doors in 1971, and the shop has stayed put at 223 N. Main St. ever since.

Today, brothers Tony and Frank Graci keep the rhythm: thin, New York style pies sold by the slice or whole, plus calzones and meatballs for the extra hungry. The line moves fast, the oregano yeast perfume hangs in the air, and lunchtime feels like a tiny show hands, flour, and a pie arcing overhead. Courthouse crowds and pre-show walkers know the drill.

The Brunch Club — a corner-booth classic on Main & Patterson 🥞

Griddles hiss from sunup at The Brunch Club, a small corner classic at 601 S. Main St. where Main meets Patterson just south of downtown. It’s the opposite of trendy quick hellos, steady refills, and regulars sliding into familiar booths.

Here, you’ll find breakfast and lunch classics: challah French toast, omelets with home fries, breakfast burritos, plus burgers and stacked sandwiches when noon hits. Carryout is always in play, and the location keeps it convenient for Miami Valley Hospital folks and UD neighbors. A reliable reset before work or a lazy weekend start, every time.

Flying Taxis Take Off — And Dayton Is in the Mix 🚁

Source: bizjournals.com/dayton

Flying cars aren’t just an idea anymore they’re starting to fly for real. Joby Aviation recently completed a series of test flights over the San Francisco Bay Area, showing off its all electric air taxi in one of the most crowded regions in the country. The aircraft can take off like a helicopter, fly like a plane, and do it quietly with zero emissions, giving a glimpse into the future of transportation.

These weren’t small tests either. Joby has already logged over 50,000 miles across thousands of flights, and the company is now moving closer to carrying real passengers as it works through final federal approvals.

Here’s why it matters locally: Joby is building a massive manufacturing operation in Dayton, positioning the region as a key hub for this next wave of aviation. If the technology scales the way experts expect, it could mean faster travel, new jobs, and a major boost to the local economy.

Bottom line what used to feel like science fiction is quickly becoming reality, and Dayton is helping build it.

GE Invests $45M to Power Dayton’s Aviation Future 💰

Source: DDN

GE Aerospace is doubling down on Dayton with a $45 million investment in 2026, upgrading facilities across the region to support next generation aircraft engines. The funding will modernize equipment, expand testing capabilities, and strengthen sites in places like Beavercreek and Vandalia areas already critical to both commercial and military aviation.

The move comes as demand for jet engines surges, with GE sitting on a massive backlog of orders. For Dayton, it’s a clear signal: the region isn’t just part of aviation’s past it’s helping build its future.
